Naidu Sends Ministers To Stop YCP In Council

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu is not only a visionary in politics but also in governance. His ideas, which rarely fail to hit the target, leave even seasoned politicians in awe.

In one such move, the CM compensated for the shortage of numbers in the Legislative Council by sending ministers there. Of the total 25 ministers in the state, nearly 13-15 are attending the Council during the ongoing Budget session. Since most of the ministers are busy attending the Council, their lack of presence in the Assembly is causing trouble for NDA MLAs, who want to discuss their constituency issues in the Assembly, as the respective minister should take note of them.

The Opposition YCP has no strength in the Assembly, but it is robust in the Council. Hence, the YCP MLCs are always present in the sessions, trying to push the TDP coalition government into trouble.

YCP boss Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, though not attending either the Assembly or the Council, is ensuring that his party’s MLCs are present in the Upper House, aiming to make the Budget session more lively with debates and discussions.

However, with the number of YCP members exceeding that of the coalition government, it was expected that the former would dominate the discussions. This was a repeat of the past when the YCP was in power. During the YCP regime, it enjoyed the privilege of an absolute majority in the Assembly but faced trouble in the Council due to the dominance of the TDP.

In the current situation, too, the TDP is facing a similar challenge, but with Naidu’s masterstroke, Jagan’s expectations have been dashed.

Forget the YCP MLCs dominating the Council – they are finding it hard to continue with their arguments, indicating that Naidu’s strategy has proven successful.
