The government has officially unveiled the model of the Telangana Talli statue. Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy will inaugurate on December 9 in the Secretariat premises. The statue was designed by Jawaharlal Nehru Architecture and Fine Arts University (JNAFAU) professor Gangadhar. Architect Ramana Reddy’s team sculpted the bronze statue, which cost around Rs 5.30 crore.
The statue, symbolizing the spirit of struggle, features Telangana Talli with clenched fists, a red saffron dot on her forehead, gold earrings, and a green saree. She holds maize, pearl millet, and paddy plants in her left hand while showing the Abhaya Mudra in her right hand. She wore red and green bangles, anklets, a nose ring, and three traditional ornaments around her neck.
Designed to reflect the appearance of an average Telangana woman, the statue stands 20 feet tall and embodies the state’s cultural essence. The Congress government emphasized that the statue’s design aims to preserve and celebrate Telangana’s cultural heritage. One lakh women will attend the unveiling ceremony, symbolizing collective strength and unity.
The government has extended invitations to prominent leaders, including opposition leader KCR, Union ministers Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay, Telangana activists, intellectuals, scholars, and other notable figures from various fields.
Rajyasabha MP Sonia Gandhi might also grace the occasion to unveil the statue.
