Taj, Oberoi Queueing Up for Land in Amaravati!

Amaravati, the new capital of Andhra Pradesh, seems to be on the verge of becoming a major metropolis. Currently, only the state secretariat, legislative assembly buildings, the high court building, a few other large construction projects, and prominent educational campuses like VIT and SRM are visible in Amaravati.

However, after the recent elections, the TDP-led coalition, with a record-breaking majority, secured a victory, and Nara Chandrababu Naidu, the TDP chief who had declared Amaravati as the capital, resumed his position as the Chief Minister. This has brought new significance to Amaravati.

Chandrababu Naidu is determined to give Amaravati a clear shape during this term, and already, an impressive sum of ₹26,000 crore has been raised for its development. Several companies, closely monitoring Naidu’s pace, are eager to set up operations in Amaravati.

Many government and private organizations have already been allotted land in Amaravati. Now, several top-tier companies are requesting the state government for land allocations. Among the companies seeking land in Amaravati are Indian Railways’ IRCTC, and major hospitality brands like Indian Hotels Company Limited (Taj Group), Oberoi, and the renowned real estate company, Raheja.

The Taj Group, which already has a hotel in Visakhapatnam, is interested in setting up a large hotel and a massive convention center in Amaravati. Recognizing the growing government activities and the changing landscape of Amaravati, Taj has requested the state government to allot 10 acres of land in the city to build a luxury hotel.

Similarly, Oberoi, another giant in the hospitality sector, has also expressed interest in acquiring 10 acres of land to set up a luxury hotel in Amaravati. Oberoi is already working on a tourism project in the Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh, and now it is keen to expand its presence in Amaravati.

In the construction sector, the Raheja Group, a key player in both national and international projects, has also shown interest in entering Amaravati. Raheja has requested the state government for 5 acres of land to establish their operations in the city.

Additionally, IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation) has proposed that it be allotted 3 acres of land in Amaravati. The CRDA (Capital Region Development Authority) has already begun steps to allocate land to these companies.
