Why Is There So Much Talk About ‘KTR Arrest’?

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy is leaving no case uninvestigated relating to corruption by the previous BRS government. He had made it clear that none involved in graft would be spared.

Accordingly, former municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao is likely to face the music in the coming days.

According to sources, the ground is being readied for the arrest of former minister and BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao in connection with the irregularities in the Formula E-car Racing contest held in Hyderabad last year. It is being alleged that around Rs 46 crore was made as payment in foreign currency, without the permission of RBI.

There is information that the Governor has given consent to file an FIR against the former minister KTR, in the Formula E-car case. The relating file has been sent to the government a couple of days ago.

Following the green signal, the ACB sleuths are set to file an FIR under Section 17 (A) PC Act.

KTR had already made it clear that Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar had released the money only after being directed to do so by him. However, he is likely to be interrogated by the ACB sleuths soon after the FIR is registered.

The ACB would first serve notices to Arvind Kumar and then to KTR, in connection with this case.

It is learnt that Arvind Kumar had made payments to the tune of Rs 55 car in connection the Formula E-car racing case. Of this, Rs 46 crore had been paid in foreign currency, in violation of rules.

The ACB would probe the reason behind the payment of a huge sum of Rs 46 crore.

In addition, there are charges that rules were ignored during organization of the event.

However, KTR has been maintaining that money was not misused in the case. He said that the E-Car Racing event was held to attract investments from electric vehicle manufacturers and also to improve the image of Brand Hyderabad.

The public will have to wait for the ACB to take a firm step, in connection with the case.
