CBN, Modi Mourn Passing Of Manmohan Singh

Former prime minister of India Manmohan Singh, who was rushed to a hospital in Delhi earlier in the day today is sadly no longer with us. He died due to age-related ailments and the same was confirmed by the medical authorities.

In this context, condolences are pouring in from all quarters for the celebrated economist who went on to serve the Prime Minister of the country twice(2004-14).

“Deeply saddened by former Prime Minister and renowned economist, Shri Manmohan Singh Ji’s demise. An intellectual statesman, Dr Singh embodied humility, wisdom, and integrity. From his economic reforms in 1991 as Finance Minister to his leadership as Prime Minister, he served the nation tirelessly and uplifted millions. His passing is a great loss to the nation. My heartfelt condolences to his family, loved ones and admirers.” AP CM Chandrababu tweeted.

Minister Narendra Modi, who succeeded Manmohan Singh as the prime minister of the country also had an elaborate message to share.

“India mourns the loss of one of its most distinguished leaders, Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji. Rising from humble origins, he rose to become a respected economist. He served in various government positions as well, including as Finance Minister, leaving a strong imprint on our economic policy over the years.”

Modi added “Dr. Manmohan Singh Ji and I interacted regularly when he was PM and I was the CM of Gujarat. We would have extensive deliberations on various subjects relating to governance. His wisdom and humility were always visible.”

Priyanka Gandhi stated “Few people in politics inspire the kind of respect that Sardar Manmohan Singh ji did. He was genuinely egalitarian, wise, strongwilled and courageous until the end. A uniquely dignified and gentle man in the rough world of politics.”
