The YSR Congress is being hit by steady exodus of senior leaders and this trend is not looking like it would subside in the near future. After having lost seniors like Alla Nani, Balineni Srinivasa Reddy, and others, another wicket is down for YCP now.
This time, it is Imtiaz Ahmed, who contested on YCP ticket from Kurnool assembly seat in this year’s election to leave the party. He submitted his resignation to the YCP high command earlier today and announced that he has decided to stay away from politics.
Imtiaz Ahmed is a former IAS officer and has a good reputation. He ended this IAS stint to test his luck in Andhra Pradesh politics and was even given the Kurnool MLA ticket by Jagan right in his very first term.
However, Imtiaz ended up losing the safe seat of Kurnool by a huge majority. After having won the seat in 2014 and 19, YCP lost the Kurnool seat this year after fielding Imtiaz Ahmed. Ever since he has been staying away from the party activities before finally announcing today that he has decided to quit YCP.
Jagan sidelined SV Mohan Reddy and ex MLA Hafeez Khan to allocate the ticket to Imtiaz and this move ended horribly. This is another blunder committed by Jagan in his otherwise safe backyard of Kurnool.
Meanwhile, Chandrababu’s trusted TG Bharath, who comprehensively won the Kurnool seat in this year’s election is now a member of the cabinet.
