Perni Nani Praises Naidu for Not Arresting His Wife

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu received credit of being a gentleman at heart from an unexpected quarters. Former minister Perni Nani, accused of involvement in the PDS rice scam, said Chandrababu Naidu has the dignity of limiting rivalry only to the political opponents and not extending it to their families.

“Even when approached by officials and political leaders time and again, regarding arresting my wife in connection with the scam, Naidu admonished them and said that arresting women of the politicians’ families was a irrational act.”

Addressing mediapersons, Nani said Naidu’s admonition speaks volumes about his magnanimity. “Though I am his political opponent, Naidu has the nobility to stay away from my family and I should appreciate him for the regality.”

Naidu told the officials to arrest me and even my son, if there is any irregularity in the PDS rice stacking in godowns, but not bring my wife into the picture. Nani said that he knew about the incident when Naidu made this remark when many MLAs and minister Nadendla Manohar were present near him.

These kind words from a rival party leader reflect that Naidu is a politician who has the discretion about his limits and boundaries.

Compare this situation with that during the YCP rule when the party leaders went overboard, becoming arrogant over the 151-seats majority given to their party. They did not deter to abuse and belittle Chandrababu Naidu’s wife in the Assembly.

The YCP leaders made uncouth remarks against Naidu’s wife Bhuvaneswari in the Assembly smacked of the abysmal levels they could stoop, exhibiting their mean and vulgar manners.

Unable to withstand the disrespect towards his wife, Naidu became emotional and vowed to return to the Assembly only as the Chief Minister.

Being a seasoned politician, Naidu never displays his feelings in the public and remains composed.

However, consumed by frustration over the YCP leaders’ repeated uncivilized behavior in the Assembly, Naidu shed tears cupping his hands amidst the presence of the MLAs in the House.

The stark contrast in the respect being given to the women by the TDP and YCP leaders should help public understand the values followed by the rival parties.
