Fact Check: No Truth In ‘Inter Exams Cancelation’ Reports

Intermediate Board secretary Kruttika Shukla invited suggestions from the stakeholders for suitable reforms that could help the students improve in their academics.

The reforms, she said, would help in brightening and bettering the lives of 10 lakh students.

She also said that they would examine the Inter First Year examination process in other states too. She said that the Board has decided to bring about the reforms to alleviate the burden on the students.

She urged all the stakeholders, including parents, teachers, educationists to send their suggestions to biereforms@gmail.com for consideration by the authorities.

Shukla also said that except Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, no other state in the country was conducting public examination for the Inter first year students.

She said that reforms would be incorporated basing on the National Education Policy. Basing on the NEP provisions, all the colleges are conducting the Inter first year examinations as internal exams, in all the other states.

She said that they were planning to introduce CBSE syllabus in Intermediate education from the next academic year 2025-26. She informed that there had been no changes in the Intermediate Board syllabus for the last several years.

Hence, the Board is planning to make changes on four fronts. This includes change in syllabus, combination of subjects, allocation of marks in the examinations and type of exams to be held during the first year.

More than 15 states in the country had introduced NCERT textbooks in Intermediate education. She said that 14 committees, including university professors with immense experience, lecturers from Degree and Intermediate Colleges, had worked to bring the necessary changes in the syllabus. The proposals and suggestions from the stakeholders will also be considered by the panels.

Shukla said that they were also contemplating to scrap the rule of compulsory pass in the Intermediate First year examination.

Several other changes have also been made in the Intermediate syllabus and the draft syllabus copy can be viewed on www.bieap.gov.in
