Back in the 90s, when the then chief minister Chandrababu Naidu projected the boom of IT sector and digitalisation of government operations, people had mixed opinions. However, Babu was sent percent right as his projection turned out to be exactly the case. This in itself was an indication that he was always well ahead of time.
Now the very same, Chandrababu, even at the age of 74 is projecting way ahead of time and has even prepared an audacious plan to revolutionise the digital era of governance.
Starting from January 18, the Government of Andhra Pradesh will be launching a flagship Digital program which will offer over 150 public services through WhatsApp. This program was briefly discussed by Chandrababu yesterday, and he had a few key pointers about the same.
Babu, not at that the modern era requires enhanced digital approach from the government and noted that this WhatsApp services will be a key step in this regard.
Several key public operations including Aadhar, caste, birth certificate generation and modification, land documents like Adangals, and related materials will now be accessible to the common public through WhatsApp.
This is a significant leap taken by the Chandrababu led the government in order to cut down the dependency on physical government offices. Several generative procedures that required physical visits to government officers will now be available at fingertips for the common public.
This is a flagship pilot program, which requires robust technology and the Government is confident of leading the charge. If this programme can be implemented, according to plan, then it could largely cut down the physical visits to government officers and subsequently cut down the degree of corruption that usually happens here. If implemented well, this program could very well be the game changer for the government of Andhra Pradesh.
