TDP-Janasena Clamp Down on Unnecessary ‘CM, DCM’ Talk

It has been barely seven months since the onset of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, and CM Chandrababu is working overtime to resurrect the social and economic fabric of the state. He is currently taking part in the World Economic Forum that is happening in Davos in an attempt to invite investments to the state.

Meanwhile, there has been a lot of speculation and commentary about making Nara Lokesh the deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.

After this proposal was first put forth by Mahasena Rajesh, it was quickly carried by SomiReddy Chandramohan Reddy, Raghu Rama Krishna Raju, Pithapuram’s SVSN Varma and others. In fact, industries minister, TG Bharath spoke about Lokesh being the right candidate for chief ministerial position while addressing the NRI TDP wing in Davos.

While the likes of Chandrababu, Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan have been focused on putting Andhra Pradesh back on track, there has been a lot of side commentary about the deputy CM and CM positions.

However, in a much needed affirmation, both Janasena and Telugu Desam have taken it upon themselves to put an end to this vague and unauthorised commentary. Yesterday, Telugu Desam asked its media representatives and leaders not to talk about deputy CM and CM positions.

Today, Janasena issued a media communication to its leaders and public representatives asking them not to indulge in such debates. The party asked its leaders not to speak about the topics in front of the media nor post about it on social media.

The point to be noted here is that it has been barely seven months since the formation of the government and there is a lot of reconstruction work to be done. This is simply not the time to fight for positions of power. Especially so, when both, Lokesh and Pawan Kalyan themselves have made it clear that Andhra Pradesh’s welfare comes ahead of their individual needs.

In fact, Lokesh even hinted about leaving the cabinet next term to make way for others. Pawan repeatedly says he is ready to work under Chandrababu’s leadership for as long as possible. At this time, any trash talk about the next CM and DCM is unwarranted and detrimental.
