JDU Shocker To NDA? What’s Happening?

The NDA government at the centre is largely reliant on Chandrababu’s Telugu Desam and Nitish Kumar‘s JDU. These two allies are significant in upholding the India government at the Centre, considering the close number that is in place in the Parliament.

In this context, something extremely detrimental has happened for the NDA alliance as JDU categorically opted out of the NDA alliance in one state. This happened in Manipur when the JDU’s regional head in the state, Kshetrimayum Biren Singh wrote an open letter withdrawing support to the BJP- led government in the state.

This was regarded as a shocker to the NDA government as JDU’s support is quintessential to them on multiple levels. However, this turned out to be just a false alarm as the Manipur JDU head had acted in his own interests and didn’t consult with the JDU high command when publicising the letter withdrawing support to the BJP government in the state.

JDU high command later issued a letter where they clarified that the party is committed to supporting BJP and NDA at both the state level and also central level.

Not stopping there, the JDU high command, even sacked Biren Singh from the position of state level head of the party for the state of Manipur. He was fired immediately after he released a letter at his own capacity which irked BJP.

The party has taken cognisance of this and the president of Manipur unit of the party has been relieved of his position. We have supported NDA and our support to the NDA government in Manipur will continue even in the future. The JDU has 6 seats in the Manipur assembly while BJP has 32 and is potent enough to run the assembly which has 60 seats in total. But the issue is that BJP needs JDU’s support even at the center level which is the cause of concern.
