In a significant move that strengthens Telangana’s position as an IT hub, Infosys Limited has announced plans to expand its IT campus in Pocharam, Hyderabad, creating 17,000 new jobs. This expansion is set to further solidify the strategic partnership between the Government of Telangana and Infosys, one of India’s leading IT firms.
The announcement was made during the World Economic Forum in Davos, following a meeting between Infosys CFO, Mr. Jayesh Sanghrajka, and Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Shri D Sridhar Babu. The expansion will involve the construction of new IT buildings in phases, with an initial investment of ₹750 crores. These buildings are expected to accommodate 10,000 people in the first phase, which will be completed over the next 2-3 years.
Infosys currently employs over 35,000 professionals at its Pocharam campus, making it one of the largest Infosys facilities in India. The addition of 17,000 jobs will further contribute to the growing IT ecosystem in the state, cementing Telangana’s reputation as one of the most sought-after IT destinations in the country.
This move is in line with the Telangana government’s proactive approach to supporting the growth of the technology sector. “Our partnership with the Government of Telangana reflects our shared vision of driving innovation, empowering communities, and strengthening the IT landscape,” said Mr. Jayesh Sanghrajka, CFO of Infosys.
Telangana’s IT and Industries Minister, Shri D Sridhar Babu, expressed his commitment to fostering strategic alliances to accelerate the state’s economic development. “The Government of Telangana remains dedicated to nurturing talent, creating opportunities, and fostering strategic partnerships to propel the state’s economy forward,” he stated.
With this expansion, Infosys will not only create new employment opportunities but also contribute significantly to the state’s thriving IT sector, driving innovation and fostering sustainable growth in the years to come.
