No 1 in Foreign Tour, No 2 Quits Party!

YCP president and former CM Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and party senior MP V. Vijayasai Reddy, who is his close confidant, had been partners both in politics and in crime.

Vijayasai Reddy’s sudden announcement on retirement from politics and quitting the party is raising several doubts on their eternal bonding and suspicion if everything is okay between the duo.

Vijayasai Reddy has been in the good books of Jagan much before the latter became the CM. After entering politics, their friendship deepened and forged into a strong bond. There is talk that Jagan always gives high priority to Vijayasai Reddy’s suggestions and advice.

However, the timing chosen by Vijayasai Reddy to make the announcement about retirement raises doubts. Jagan is enjoying his time with family in London and his close confidant Vijayasai, who in fact should take charge of the situation, has announced his relinquishment from politics itself.

In politics, Jagan remains the supremo of his party while Vijayasai Reddy, who helped him navigate the path in becoming the Chief Minister and also hoodwink the CBI in the illegal assets case, continued to extend unflinching support and was recognized as the next in authority only to Jagan, implying they are A1 (Authority 1) and A2 (Authority 2).

He served as the in-charge of the YCP affairs in North Andhra region and monitored strengthening of the party.

Being a chartered accountant by profession, it is believed that Vijayasai Reddy also helped Jagan in manipulating and fudging with the financial records of his various companies, subsequently named as A2 (Accused No. 2) by the CBI in the illegal assets case. Jagan is Accused No. 1 in this case.

Recently, the ED sleuths grilled him for more than six hours in connection with the coercive acquisition of shares in Kainada Deep Water Port by Aurobindo Realty & Infrastructure Ltd., a firm owned by his son-in-law.

In the long post on X, Vijayasai Reddy said that his next calling is agriculture.

Why this sudden shift from politics to agriculture?

Is Vijayasai fearing conviction in various cases he had been accused or is there a rift in his friendship with Jagan?
