The coalition government has launched new services in the state, making government services more accessible to the public starting today. In the first phase, 161 government services will be available via WhatsApp. These services were officially launched today by State IT Minister Nara Lokesh at his residence in Undavalli. With this, Andhra Pradesh has created a record by becoming the first state in the country to offer government services through WhatsApp.
Minister Lokesh stated that, in addition to delivering public services, government information will also be disseminated through WhatsApp. He mentioned that, initially, 161 services will be made available and, in the future, more services will be brought closer to the people. The number 9552300009 was unveiled by the minister for accessing these WhatsApp services. He emphasized that citizens can now access government services through their smartphones using this number.
Minister Lokesh also shared that during the Yuvagalam padayatra, he met people from all walks of life and learned that even to avail basic services from the government, people had to travel extensively, often walking around offices until their shoes wore out. He expressed his concern over this and explained that, at that time, he decided to bring government services closer to the people through smartphones. He assured that various services would soon be made available in the near future.
He further highlighted that WhatsApp governance has been launched in Andhra Pradesh, a first of its kind in the world. He mentioned that citizens could now access a variety of documents, from birth and death certificates to educational certificates, through WhatsApp. This, he added, would also address the issue of fake certificates.
