CM Chandrababu Naidu has always followed a distinct style of governance. Known for making exemplary decisions, Chandrababu never tolerates misuse of public funds. Even when in power, he ensures that positions are not handed out to just anyone, and that they are given only to those who truly deserve them. Under Babu’s leadership, advisors were rarely seen. But, if there were any advisors, they were always highly experienced and knowledgeable.
Recently, former IPS officer RP Thakur, who served as Andhra Pradesh’s DGP (Director General of Police) and retired, has been appointed as an advisor to the Andhra Pradesh government.
Chandrababu made a significant decision on Saturday by appointing RP Thakur as an advisor to the government. In the same reshuffle, he also appointed former IPS officer AB Venkateshwar Rao, who was politically sidelined during the YSRCP rule, as Chairman of the Police Housing Corporation. Both appointments were officially announced, and RP Thakur will work from the AP Bhavan in Delhi, acting as a liaison for both the central and state governments.
RP Thakur, like AB Venkateshwar Rao, was highly regarded for his leadership qualities as an IPS officer. During Chandrababu’s tenure, Thakur was appointed as DGP. It was during his time as DGP that key reforms were implemented, including the introduction of weekly offs for police personnel and other significant changes within the police department. RP Thakur played a key role in bringing about several reforms in governance, which is likely why, even after his retirement, Chandrababu has opted to utilize his services once again.
