Meet The Man Who Defeated Kejriwal With 3000 Votes

The Aam Aadmi Party, which emerged as an invisible force in the national capital with two consecutive electoral victories in the 2015 and the 2020 assembly elections, is now staring at a huge embarrassment as the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to win majority of the seats for the polls held on February 5th.

As per the latest trends, BJP is likely to win the magic figure and secure more than 45 seats. What is more shocking for AAP is that former Chief Minister and its founder Arvind Kejriwal has been defeated by BJP’s Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma in the New Delhi constituency. He won with over 3000 votes and created history. He was the one who gave the slogan ‘ Remove Kejriwal from Delhi’ which gained significant buzz during the poll campaign.

Now, rumours are rife that Parvesh Varma is likely to be named the Chief Minister of Delhi by the BJP. Who is Parvesh Varma has now become a topic of discussion among political circles.

Parvesh Varma comes a family with strong political background. He is the son of former BJP leader and Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma. His uncle, Azad Singh, previously served as the mayor of the North Delhi Municipal Corporation.

Parvesh’s political career started in 2013 when he won a seat in the Delhi Legislative Assembly, representing Mehrauli. He later shifted attention towards national politics by winning the West Delhi parliamentary constituency in 2014. He was re-elected with a significant margin of 5 lakh votes in 2019.

Ahead of the Delhi elections , Parvesh launched the campaign “Remove Kejriwal, Save the Nation,” which gained huge traction among the public. He attacked the AAP government for failing to deliver on key promises and getting mired in corruption allegations. He has been particularly vocal about issues such as pollution, women’s safety, and civic infrastructure, accusing the Delhi administration of neglecting these concerns.

Though the BJP high command is tight lipped about who will helm the coveted CM posts, party supporters and the media believe that Parvesh is the forerunner to claim it.
