One of the most offensive and antisocial incidents in the previous YSR Congress government tenure was the government attack on the TDP office in Gannavaram. It is widely reported that Vallabhaneni Vamsi who shifted from TDP to YSR Congress was behind this attack, and he was even named in the FIR that was filed later.
After the onset of the NDA government in Andhra Pradesh, this case picked up the momentum and police investigation got aggravated. A total of 88 people were named in this case, including Vallabai Vamsi himself, and 45 people were already arrested with regard to the same.
However, when a new hearing on this case happened on Monday at the Vijayawada SC/ST Court, something unexpected happened.
The principal complainant in the case, Sathya Vardhan arrived at the court, saying that he has nothing to do with this case now. After having lodged the complaint in the first place, he backed out now and stated that he has no recollection of what had happened.
Earlier, Sathya Vardhan was the operator at the TDP office during the time of the incident in 2023 and he was the primary eye witness in the case. He had even alleged that he was at the spot while Vamsi’s men attacked the office. However, for unforeseen reasons, he has turned hostile in the case now and has requested to withdraw the case.
This comes at a time when Vamsi had recently approached the Supreme Court for anticipatory bail in the case. This unexpected development is puzzling even TDP cadres as they’re anxious about how this case will be taken forward now after this hostility.
