Former deputy chief minister of Andhra Pradesh and a former close associate of Jagan Mohan Reddy, Alla Nani, who is also ex Eluru MLA has done the inevitable. After quitting YCP following the election, he has taken the plunge and joined TDP last night.
Factually speaking, Alla Nani was supposed to join in Telugu Desam earlier itself. There were a couple of occasions when Nani was just about to join the party in the presence of Chandrababu, but things did not materialise at the last minute. It was reported that TDP hierarchy was pacifying local TDP cadres in Eluru to set the ground for Nani’s arrival.
After the delay, Alla Nani has finally joined TDP and he was greeted by Chandrababu on the occasion. This pretty much marks the end of political lineage of YCP in Eluru as Nani is a senior Kapu leader here with considerable connections. Without him, YCP doesn’t even have a notable leader in Eluru.
However, the issue here is that Nani is accused of tormenting TDP cadres earlier during YCP tenure. Consequently, the local TDP cadres in Eluru are opposing his joining now. But that’s how things are going to be and it’s the responsibility of local leadership to pacify the situation.
