Telangana Congress announced three candidates for the biennial elections to the MLC elections under the MLAs quota. While the party already allocated a seat to CPI, one was given to an SC candidate, the other to ST, and one to a female. Surprisingly, Vijaya Shanthi’s name has been declared by the party. The other two are Addanki Dayakar and Kethavath Shankar Naik.
The announcement of Vijayashanthi’s name as a candidate surprised many, including Congress leaders. Vijayashanthi was not active with the party activities but her name has been announced too. Still, it looks easy for the Congress party to secure the victory.
Former MP Anjan Kumar Yadav, cricketer turned politician Mohd Azharuddin, Mohd Shabbir Ali and others too expected MLC but they are now left in disappointment.
The term of five MLCs, including Mohd Mahmood Ali, Satyavathi Rathod, Seri Subhash Reddy, Yegge Mallesham and Mirza Riyazul Hassan Effendi, will come to an end on March 29th.
The last date for filing the nominations is March 10.
