The Backbone of TDP: Leaders Who Put Party Above All

Telugu Desam Party has the luxury of having several vocal leaders who give their everything for the party, regardless of the end reward. One such leader is Buddha Venkanna, who has been with the party through thick and thin. After fearlessly fighting for TDP between 2019-2024, when a rampant and oppressive Jagan was at the helm, Venkanna hoped to get the MLC ticket from Vijayawada in the recent election. He did everything in his power and even pleaded with Babu to give him the ticket. However, due to the existing combinations and alliance seat-sharing agreements, Babu couldn’t afford a ticket for Buddha.

After disappointment on that front, Buddha hoped to gain the MLC position in this year’s MLC nominations. However, he couldn’t secure the MLC post this time either. A day after TDP announced its MLC candidates, with no trace of Buddha in the list, he interacted with the media. While it was not expected that he would express dissent and irk the party, he took a completely mature and sincere turn. Buddha said he sees and perceives Chandrababu Naidu like a god, and there are no two ways about it. “Chandrababu Garu is like a God to me. At times, even God tests the strongest of us. This is one such test from my God, Chandrababu Garu.” Buddha said. The TDP spokesman further added that this doesn’t change anything for him, and he still continues to devote his life to Chandrababu.

Many expected that Buddha, who went through physical and mental trauma under the Jagan regime and even suffered physical mauling, would be rewarded with an MLC position, but sadly for him, it hasn’t happened. Perhaps something big is in store for him in the future, and he is hopeful of the same now. Not only Buddha Venkanna but also leaders like Pithapuram Varma, Devineni Uma, and many other aspirants for MLC tickets showed mature responses in front of the media. In another way, this is what TDP is proud of its leaders.
