The TTD has decided to facilitate the darshan of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala for devotees based on the recommendation letters from Telangana’s elected representatives, meaning their requests will now be honored.
This relaxation in permission for recommendation letters from Telangana representatives comes after the leaders expressed dissatisfaction over alleged discrimination in visiting the sacred Tirumala shrine following the bifurcation of the state.
According to a statement released by the TTD, the decision was made following directions from Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu. The recommendation letters will be approved on Sundays and Mondays for VIP break darshan on Mondays and Tuesdays.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays, the letters will be approved for Rs 300 Special darshan on the same day. During these days, only one recommendation letter will be accepted from each elected representative, permitting six devotees per letter. This system will be in place from March 24.
Previously, recommendation letters were accepted only from AP elected representatives on Sundays for VIP break darshan on Mondays. This rule has now been relaxed, and henceforth, recommendation letters will also be accepted on Saturdays to facilitate VIP break darshan on Sundays.
These modifications have been made based on existing facilities for devotees and the pilgrim rush atop the hill.
