BJP’s Operation Akarsh: Danger Bells For YCP?

After basking in glory for five years between 2019-24, YCP is virtually facing existential crisis in Andhra Pradesh. Several high level senior leaders like Alla Ramakrishna Reddy and Balineni Srinivasa Reddy have already quit the party, while the cadre is anyway downbeat after Jagan himself admittedly ignored them even while being the CM.

In the meanwhile, it is being established that AP BJP is said to be working on a plan of its own to destabilise YCP further by launching operation Akarsh.

According to latest reports, the party’s central leadership in Delhi had instructed the local leadership to attract the outgoing YCP leaders. Needless to say, YCP has been losing leaders and cadres every now and again. The game-plan devised by BJP is reportedly to attract these outgoing leaders who are looking at TDP and JSP as alternatives and instead bring them into BJP.

In the first step, AP BJP could attract Adari Diary’s Adari Anand Kumar. This diary network has vast footprint in three erstwhile united Uttharandhra districts and have lakhs of diary farmer and agri farmers in their ecosystem. This could largely benefit BJP.

Reportedly, the saffron camp has even sent out invites for other YCP seniors like Tammineni Sitharam and Dharmana Prasad Rao. Their response is yet to be established.

Another ex MLA who owns educational institutions who was earlier with TDP moved to YCP after 2019 to safeguard his interests. After this move to YCP, he abused Babu and Lokesh. Now, after YCP’s defeat, he can’t go back to TDP due to earlier predicament. So, BJP is looking to bag this wealthy businessman it seems.

Another YCP veteran who recently quit the party is said to be trying for Rajya Sabha cabinet berth from another party is also said to be in touch with BJP and even promised to strengthen the party financially if he gets the RS berth on their behalf.

While BJP lacks integral strength and fundamental competence in Andhra Pradesh, which was exposed in the 2019 election, they’re now said to be looking at established YCP leaders to gain political credence. This way, they wouldn’t just delegate YCP and poach its leaders, but also become another worthy alternative in AP politics which is the need of the hour for them.
