North Must Understand South Languages : Pawan Kalyan

Earlier during the Janasena plenary, deputy chief minister, Pawan Kalyan created a huge debate by speaking against the Tamil population for opposing Hindi language. He strongly opined that there is nothing wrong in Tamil folk learning Hindi language.

This was fiercely fought back by the DMK leaders who said Kalyan has no business speaking about the language preferences and noted that he himself had earlier opposed BJP’s Hindi imposition in India.

Now, in a much needed media clarification in order to have a more comprehensive discussion on this subject, Kalyan interacted with a Tamil media outlet and debriefed his intention.

When the questioner asked Kalyan if he thinks only South folk must learn Hindi while North population ignores South languages, the deputy CM had a pretty affirmative response.

“I am of the strong opinion that north Indian population must also understand our own South Indian languages like Telugu, Tamil and Kannada. At the same time, if the South Indian population does not intend to learn Hindi, then they must preferably learn some other language based on their convenience.” Kalyan stated.

Kalyan has been fairly generic and understanding with regard to his argument about the language barrier. He again stated that India must not be divided on linguistic lines and further added that there is nothing wrong in learning and understanding additional languages apart from their own home tongue.

But after the earlier dejection for advising Tamil folk to not oppose Hindi language, Kalyan has slightly altered his stance as he said Hindi folk also must put an effort to learn South languages.
