Babu Pitches Andhra’s Lifelines to Finance Commission

One of the most crucial government-oriented meetings took place at the Andhra Pradesh Secretariat today, as the State government interacted with the representatives of the 16th Finance Commission of India.

The Finance Commission plays a key role in recommending adequate funds from the Centre for state development. As such, the meeting with the Commission’s representatives was taken very seriously by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan was also present at the meeting, attending even with a saline drip attached to his hand. He offered several suggestions regarding the Panchayat Raj department and the allocations that need to be made to it.

Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu focused on two critical topics during the interaction with the Finance Commission: the Polavaram irrigation project and the Amaravati capital city project.

“We had a fruitful discussion on our plans for Amaravati, Polavaram, the Polavaram-Banakacherla link, and crucial infrastructure such as ports, airports, and highways,” Babu stated, following the meeting with the delegation led by Commission Chairman Mr. Arvind Panagariya.

He further explained Andhra Pradesh’s goals and aspirations, the challenges it faces, and the government’s commitment to achieving the Swarnandhra Vision 2047. He stressed that with the right support today, Andhra Pradesh can play a vital role in shaping India’s success tomorrow.

Babu underscored that the Amaravati and Polavaram projects are lifelines for the socio-economic and agricultural growth of the state, respectively. The primary focus of the meeting remained on these two projects, and it appears that the Commission responded positively to the proposals.
