Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi stands as one of the most influential and powerful leaders in the world. But it’s important to remember that he began his political journey humbly, starting out as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
In a remarkable moment today, Modi made a candid revelation about his early political career, sharing how he drew inspiration from none other than Chandrababu Naidu. This powerful statement was made during his address to the massive crowd at the Amaravati 2.0 event in Velagapudi.
“During my early days as the Chief Minister of Gujarat, I closely followed the work being done by Chandrababu Naidu for Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad. He’s a true taskmaster when it comes to integrating technology with governance. I used to quietly observe his working style and tried to learn from it,” Modi said.
The fact that Modi—now a globally significant political figure—openly admitted to learning from Chandrababu in his early days speaks volumes about the legacy the TDP chief has built over the years.
Chandrababu’s governance model from the 1990s has not only shaped modern-day administration but has also served as inspiration for several Chief Ministers across India. And today, Modi himself has acknowledged being one of them.
Adding a special touch to his speech, Modi began in fluent Telugu, winning hearts with his opening line about the capital city. “Amaravati oka nagaram kaadu, Amaravati oka shakti,” he said, meaning “Amaravati is not just a city, it is a power.” This heartfelt moment even drew a visibly emotional reaction from Chandrababu Naidu, who looked pleasantly surprised.
