The Only Nation Openly Supporting Pakistan?

At a time when tensions between India and Pakistan are sky-high after the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 Indians, Turkey has emerged as the only nation openly supporting Pakistan.

Soon after the attack, Turkey’s President Erdogan met with Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and expressed full support. Turkey also repeated its backing for Pakistan on the Kashmir issue, a move India strongly objects to.

Adding to this, a Turkish naval warship – TCG Buyukada – docked at Karachi port on a so-called “goodwill visit”. But military experts say this is more than just a friendly call. The warship is equipped with missiles, torpedoes, and anti-submarine systems, showing clear military strength. This move comes as India discusses the possibility of a naval blockade on Karachi – making the Turkish visit look like a warning signal.

At the same time, Turkish military transport planes – reportedly six – landed in Pakistan. Officially, Turkey said it was just for refuelling, and denied carrying weapons. But unconfirmed reports from Pakistani media suggest the planes may have brought military supplies. While the truth is not clear, the timing of these visits is raising many questions.

Turkey and Pakistan already have strong defence ties. Turkey has supplied advanced drones, upgraded Pakistani F-16s, and built warships for Pakistan. With Western countries limiting military trade with Pakistan, Turkey has become a key arms supplier.
