The Indian government meticulously planned Operation Sindoor to disrupt the terrorist base camps in PoK. Indian armed forces used stand-off weapons, drones, and precision munitions, besides other weapons, in the strike. The mission was successful, and Jaish-e-Mohammad chief Masood Azhar’s family members were killed in the attack.
According to the reports in Pakistan media, Azhar reportedly confirmed that his nephew, niece, and 14 other family members were killed in the latest airstrike.
Masood Azhar is India’s most wanted terrorist, and he was designated as a global terrorist by the UN Security Council in May 2019. Masood Azhar has a connection with many terrorist attacks in the country. He was involved in the 2001 Parliament attack, the 2001 assault on the J&K Assembly, the 2016 Pathankot airbase attack, the 2019 Pulwama bombing, and multiple other attacks on BSF camps.
Azhar was arrested by Indian authorities in 1994 but was released in 1999 in exchange for hostages during the IC-814 hijacking.
