Naidu Singing Same Old Song!

After the Dubbak debacle, GHMC elections turned prestigious for the ruling TRS and opposition Congress as both the parties got a major setback from the BJP. Meanwhile, AP’s opposition party – Telugu Desam, which is largely confined to AP after the bifurcation, seems to have not given up its hopes yet on Hyderabad. TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu has asked the TDP’s Telangana unit president L Ramana to take the upcoming GHMC elections seriously. Naidu has advised Ramana to constitute a special committee comprising the state leaders to fight the GHMC polls.

In a Zoom conference, Chandrababu said people of Hyderabad have immense belief and faith in TDP. Naidu recalled his achievements and his acts of development during his tenure as CM for the undivided state. Naidu listed out Outer Ring Road, Hitech City, International Airport, Cyberabad, Genome Valley, Cyber Towers et al and asked the Telangana TDP leaders to take these topics into people. T-TDP’s state incharge Kambhampati Rammohan Rao, politburo member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy, Aravind Goud, TDP’s central committee member Kothakota Dayakar Reddy and party leaders in GHMC have participated in this Zoom interaction with Chandrababu.Naidu also asked the party leaders to focus on Kukatpally and other prominent areas where Andhra settlers have dominance. However, Naidu’s statements turned cliche. He is reciting the same old statements and singing the same old song.

TDP, which once had a strong hold in Telangana, has subsequently lost its strength to regional party TRS. After Naidu’s campaign fiasco during the Telangana Assembly election in 2018, TDP in Telangana became inactive. However, Naidu seems to be not giving up his dreams on Hyderabad. It needs to be seen whether TDP would score anything in the upcoming GHMC election where a triangular fight between TRS, Congress and BJP is in fray. Not to forget the MIM in the old city region which in turn is supporting the ruling TRS. The election will be held for the 150 wards in the Greater Hyderabad region and one has to wait and see, who would clinch the Mayor post.
