It’s been exactly one year since Pawan Kalyan stepped into as the Deputy CM of Andhra Pradesh. From the moment he took office, Pawan made it clear that he wasn’t here for symbolic leadership, he came to work, and work hard.
Unlike most political leaders, Pawan didn’t opt for glamorous portfolios. Instead, he chose departments that directly affect rural lives: Panchayati Raj, Rural Development, Environment, Forest, Science and Technology. And within a short time, he made his mark.
One of his biggest successes was the “Palle Panduga” initiative, a village festival program that revived rural traditions and brought communities together. He also launched mini cattle shelters and water troughs for livestock, which won appreciation from farmers across the state.
What truly stood out was his firm action on illegal encroachments of forest lands. Pawan ordered investigations into powerful figures, including properties linked to Jagan’s associates and even former ministers. In some cases, he ensured that the land was reclaimed for the government. His bold stance shook up the system and earned public respect.
Pawan didn’t just focus on state issues. At the national level, he persuaded PM Narendra Modi to extend the Jal Jeevan Mission, ensuring that Andhra Pradesh received a larger share of funding for clean drinking water projects.
Despite being new to governance, Pawan handled his role with surprising clarity and transparency. He kept his communication open with the public and didn’t shy away from highlighting both achievements and challenges.
As he completes one year in office, Pawan Kalyan has shown that he’s not just another leader in politics. He’s here with a mission and if the first year is any indication, he’s only getting started.
