There are multiple powerful reasons why Andhra Pradesh chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is regarded as one of the most progressive and visionary leaders in India. This is again reflecting in the fact that his vision in a 2016 project is now reaping rich rewards now just for Andhra Pradesh but all of India.
Back in 2016 chief minister Chandrababu had envisioned an MedTech Zone project in Vizag which was a very brave and ambitious project back then.
In the pre-COVID world of 2016, the AP Medtech Zone (AMTZ) in Vizag was started to make India self-reliant in medical devices. This decision was taken at a time while India was importing the majority of its medical devices from global countries by paying huge prices.
Babu’s vision in the medial stream then is now paying rich dividends as MedTech is one of the leading medical devices manufacturers in the global market.
Now the AMTZ is the largest manufacturer and exporter of medtech devices in the country and a critical cog as India’s transforms to a $50 billion medical device market.
It must be primarily noted that India’s medical technology sector is shifting from being heavily reliant on imports to becoming a major exporter. The Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ), the country’s first medical device park, envisioned by Chandrababu before COVID is playing an important role in turning the idea into a reality.
