Hyd Flood Relief Stopped, People Outraged

The Telangana State Election Commission has given a huge blow to the flood-hit people of Hyderabad. With the GHMC poll notification out, the model code of conduct came into effective immediately and as a result, it has asked the Telangana government to stop the flood relief assistance to the public.

After irregularities creeping in the distribution of Rs 10,000 flood relief, the TRS government has asked the victims to enrol in mee-seva, so that the entire amount would get credited in their bank accounts. With the government’s call, people have thronged at the mee-seva centres in thousands. Every day in the flood affected areas, people are reaching the centres early in the morning and are waiting on long queues. Due to serve down issues, many people could not enrol their names.

On Wednesday with the Election Commission orders, the TRS government has asked the mee-seva to stop the enrollment and the same was informed to the public. This has caused a huge outrage among the people. At many places, they sat down on the roads and staged a protest. Out of anger, some people questioned why the CM KCR has announced Rs 10,000 financial support or is it an election gimmick?

Meanwhile CM KCR who called for a meeting with party leaders, told them that the government received two lakh applications for the flood relief and so far 1.60 Lakh flood relief assistance has been done. After the GHMC poll results, the rest would be done without failure.

But will the public get satisfied with KCR’s reply or vote for TRS in the GHMC polls? Mark the date, December 4th.
