AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, known for championing the IT sector in Telugu states, made a rare yet noteworthy statement by giving full credit for India’s IT revolution to former Congress Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao.
Speaking at the sixth edition of the “Lecture Series” held in Delhi on the topic Life and Legacy of PV Narasimha Rao, Chandrababu praised the former PM for laying the foundation for India’s transformation. He said PV was the true game-changer who introduced major economic reforms that opened India to global investment.
Chandrababu acknowledged that while he played a major role in bringing IT to Andhra Pradesh, it was PV who created the environment that made it possible. He pointed out that the mobile phones, technology, and foreign investments we rely on today all began with the reforms PV introduced.
He also drew a contrast between PV’s calm leadership, even in a minority government, and how later governments misused opportunities. Taking a veiled dig at YSRCP, Chandrababu said his Amaravati capital plan was supported at first, then deliberately damaged by the following regime.
He concluded by saying that PV’s policies were respected and carried forward by BJP’s Atal Bihari Vajpayee and even today by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showing how one Congress leader’s vision reshaped India.
Chandrababu’s speech has caught attention for recognizing the legacy of a Congress Prime Minister, something unusual in today’s political climate.
