First Pics: Chandrababu & Revanth Meet in Delhi

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu and Telangana CM Revanth Reddy met today in Delhi to discuss the ongoing dispute over Krishna River water sharing. The meeting took place at the Union Jal Shakti Ministry office and was chaired by Union Minister CR Patil. Andhra Pradesh’s Water Resources Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu and Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand were also present.

One of the key topics discussed was the proposed Polavaram–Banakacherla water link project, which is estimated to cost ₹81,900 crore. This project, initiated by the Andhra Pradesh government, has drawn serious objections from Telangana. The Telangana government fears that this large-scale project may negatively impact its share of river water.

This meeting is being seen as an important step towards resolving long-standing issues between the two Telugu states. While previous meetings between Chandrababu and Revanth were largely symbolic, today’s discussion carried much more weight and was directly aimed at addressing core water disputes. It also marked the Centre’s active involvement in helping both states arrive at a solution.

The outcome of this meeting will be closely watched. A positive resolution could pave the way for progress on the water project and bring clarity to how Krishna River water is shared. Both states hope to reach a fair agreement that will benefit their farmers and people who depend on these vital water resources.
