Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken a strong and decisive stand in public policy. This was evident when he announced a subsidy package for mango farmers, who have had a particularly difficult year.
Earlier, mango farmers in Chittoor district faced an extremely distressing situation when the price per tonne of mangoes dropped to just Rs 2. The crisis was out of control at the time.
During this period, YS Jagan visited Chittoor and attempted to capitalize on the issue. However, instead of focusing on resolving the farmers’ problems, he resorted to visual optics, including dumping five tonnes of mangoes on the road, which drew public criticism.
In contrast, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken practical steps to support the farming community. He has instructed officials to immediately release Rs 260 crore as subsidy payments for mango farmers.
As per the chief minister’s orders, farmers will now receive a subsidy of Rs 4 per tonne, which is expected to provide much-needed financial relief. Additionally, he directed procurement of another 6.5 lakh tonnes of mangoes from farmers to stabilize the market.
This action aligns with what Chandrababu Naidu had promised earlier and proves he is delivering on his word at a crucial time for the mango farmers.
