Speaking to the media, former Andhra Pradesh chief minister YS Jagan made a set of highly provocative statements against Congress leadership, including Rahul Gandhi and Telangana chief minister Revanth Reddy.
Jagan alleged that Rahul Gandhi and Revanth Reddy have a truce with Andhra Pradesh chief minister Chandrababu Naidu. “Chandrababu has a hotline connection with Rahul and Revanth. That is why Rahul Gandhi is not questioning the EVM fraud that happened in Andhra Pradesh,” Jagan claimed.
This serious remark from Jagan drew a strong reaction from Congress leadership. The party’s in charge of the Andhra Pradesh unit, Manickam Tagore, who was also challenged by Jagan to speak about the vote chor issue in AP, issued a sharp retort.
“It is easy for Jagan to sit and comment about Rahul Gandhi, who is fighting a war against Modi and Amit Shah. We know for a fact that Amit Shah is behind this electoral fraud. We also know that Jagan has connections with Amit Shah, while Chandrababu is with Modi. If Jagan is truly committed to fighting vote fraud, then why does he not join the Congress rally? He can participate in the rally led by Sharmila in Vijayawada against vote fraud,” Tagore said.
The Congress party has cleverly used the Sharmila angle to put Jagan on the spot. They know very well that he does not intend to join a rally alongside Sharmila. At the same time, if he ignores the Congress invitation, his original claim that Chandrababu is in a truce with Congress loses credibility.
It appears Jagan’s attempt to corner Congress and Chandrababu has backfired, as Congress has thrown the Sharmila challenge at him which he is unlikely to take up.
