Back in the day, there was a popular saying in the Telugu community for people who repeated the same story again and again. Such repetitive stories were called “Banda Puraanam,” and people quickly grew impatient and intolerant of them.
A similar scenario is now being observed with United States President Donald Trump. On every occasion, he keeps repeating that he was the one who stopped the war between India and Pakistan.
Even in the White House briefing that happened a short while ago, Trump brought up the same topic once again and took credit for stopping the alleged war between India and Pakistan.
“I stopped seven wars that were raging, including India and Pakistan which was probably two weeks away from being a nuclear war. They were shooting down airplanes all over the place. I am very proud of that,” Trump said.
However, Indian authorities have already made it very clear that they halted the aerial attacks only after receiving submissive requests from the Pakistani military through the United States Secretary of State. It was more of a mediatory role that the U.S. played in a situation that was bound to settle sooner or later.
Still, Trump continues to go on and on about it, claiming credit for diffusing the situation between India and Pakistan. Even if he had a role to play, his repeated statements make it seem like he is overdoing it every single time.
