Andhra Pradesh is set to receive a major industrial investment, with Hindalco Industries planning to establish a large-scale project in Kuppam, the home constituency of Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. The company, which is well-known in the aluminum sector, will set up an Integrated Aluminum Extrusion Facility with an investment of nearly ₹586 crore.
The aluminum components produced in this unit will be supplied as raw material for the manufacturing of iPhone chassis and enclosures, making Kuppam a part of Apple’s global supply chain.
The project proposal is expected to get approval from the State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB) soon. Officials highlight that this project will be a milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s industrial history, as it directly links the state to high-end smartphone manufacturing.
Kuppam’s location is also proving to be a big advantage. It is just 120 kilometers from Bengaluru and 200 kilometers from Chennai, allowing investors to utilize the strong infrastructure of both metro cities.
If everything goes as planned, the Hindalco unit is likely to be completed by 2027. The project is expected to create around 1,000 direct jobs. The government will extend support under the AP Electronics Component Manufacturing Policy 2025-30, offering land and other incentives as part of subsidies.
With Hindalco’s entry, Andhra Pradesh is poised to strengthen its presence in the global smartphone supply chain. The move also brings India a step closer to the “Make in India” vision, with crucial iPhone parts like chassis and PCBs being manufactured domestically.
