After having lost the chief minister chair in the 2024 Andhra Pradesh election, YS Jagan has been almost completely away from the public policy making. He is not coming to the Assembly, not is he raising his voice against the burning issues.
The topic of discussion here is the possible disqualification of Jagan from the Andhra Pradesh assembly due to prolonged absence from the house.
According to the rule book, an MLA must be disqualified from his position if he does not attend the assembly session for more than 60 days. This was pointed out by deputy speaker, Raghuram Krishna Raju, who made a valid appeal to Jagan.
In his latest video message, RRR stated that Jagan is a setting a wrong precedent by intentionally staying away from the assembly. “It has been 37 days since Jagan started skipping the assembly sessions again. He made namesake appearance a few months back and that’s about it. Once he completes 60 days outside the Assembly, we will be left with no other option, but to disqualify him.”
RRR pointed out that Pulivendula had already witnessed by election in recent ZPTC polls and added that it shouldn’t be long before the constituency goes for assembly election as well, considering Jagan reluctance to come to the Assembly.
The deputy speaker further pointed out that it is not good on the part of Jagan to run after the opposition leader status, which isn’t due for him. He respectfully invited the former CM to come to the session and discuss public policies.
This comes shortly after chief minister, Chandrababu asked Jagan if he is “Siddham” to come to the assembly. This is now prompted by the deputy speaker, RRR, and it has to be seen what would be the reaction of Jagan.
