Just Like SpaceX, Naidu Plans Space City In Tirupati

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced plans for a Space City in Tirupati, where all arrangements would be made for the launch of private satellites. Naidu is leaving no stone unturned to put the state on the development radar.

Apart from taking up projects that would help in utilizing the long coast, Naidu is also focusing on attracting foreign investments and also foster Andhra Pradesh to develop as a hub for indigenous technology, that can compete globally.

Being a tech-savvy CM, Naidu is envisioning a great future for Tirupati by establishing the Space City. He drew a parallel to the American private space sector and said that the Space City near Tirupati would be just like America’s SpaceX.

He made the announcement at the International Mediation Conference at the Asian Centre for International Arbitration and Mediation (ACIAM) in Visakhapatnam. He briefed the gathering about a broad strategy to position Andhra Pradesh as a global hub for emerging technologies, data centres and space exploration.

Naidu believes that the policy would give a push to accelerate development in the state. At the same time, Naidu was to benefit from its key location to attract high-tech industries.

The proposal to set up Space City is in alignment with the Andhra Pradesh Space Policy 4.0, which aims to attract investments and create thousands of jobs in the space sector. The Space City is designed to benefit from the growing privatization of the space sector, aligning AP with global trends.

Speaking about Quantum Valley to be set up in Amaravati, he said that the first quantum computer in India will be operational in Amaravati by January 1 next year. This would make India the sixth country to use the technology.

The Quantum Valley would serve universities, research bodies, several startups, apart from industries. AP has already gone into an understanding with tech giant International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) to install a Quantum Computer at the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre.

Not leaving the Information Technology sector behind, Naidu said that the state has secured over $100 billion in investment in the past one year. Vizag will be developed as a major data hub with tech giants like Google, Cognizant and TCS on track to surpass India’s entire existing data centre capacity in the next couple of years.
