AP CM Chandrababu Naidu has said that Rayalaseema, once known for its dry and drought-prone conditions, is now slowly transforming into a fertile region comparable to Konaseema. He credited this change to the effective use of modern irrigation techniques and major water projects implemented in the state.
Speaking at a review meeting, Naidu highlighted that drip irrigation and other advanced water management systems have produced significant results in Rayalaseema, improving crop yields and farming conditions. “With the Pattiseema project, we managed to save Krishna water in the delta and divert it through Srisailam to Rayalaseema. Using the Handri-Neeva canal, we even extended Krishna waters all the way to Kuppam,” he explained.
Naidu stressed that timely decisions in agriculture, especially with regard to commercial crops, play a key role in ensuring farmers get better profits. He directed district collectors to actively support farmers in choosing the right crops and providing them with the necessary resources at the right time.
The Chief Minister underlined that the government’s vision is not just to supply water but also to make agriculture more sustainable and profitable in regions that were once dependent on rain. He expressed confidence that with continued efforts, Rayalaseema will shed its image of scarcity and emerge as a green belt, much like the fertile Konaseema region.
