Ahead of the upcoming by-elections, the TDP has decided to stay out of the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency in Telangana. The announcement came after a strategic meeting of Telangana TDP leaders, chaired by party chief and AP former CM N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Jubilee Hills has long been seen as a key urban constituency, historically delivering strong results for TDP. Local leaders had hoped to contest, believing the party could make a mark despite the competitive political landscape. During his recent Hyderabad visit, Chandrababu had stressed the importance of contesting directly rather than backing an outside party.
Now, the party has taken a clear line: TDP will neither field a candidate nor extend support to Congress or BRS in Jubilee Hills. While the party is allied with BJP in Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu clarified that Telangana BJP can seek local TDP support, but it is entirely up to the local cadre to decide whether to actively support or remain neutral.
With the official by-election notification scheduled for October 13, political watchers will be closely observing how TDP’s move affects the voting patterns in Jubilee Hills and its wider impact on Telangana politics.
