A Game-Changer for Coastal Andhra

The Government has taken a major step in boosting the state’s growth by approving a new mega refinery project at Ramayapatnam Port in Nellore district. Through Government Order (GO) No. 180, the state has allotted land and offered incentives for Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to set up this massive facility.

It is said to be a major project and would expand the role of the location and establishment of Ramayapatnam port for long term goals. The refinery will be built with an investment of ₹96,862 crore, spread across 6,000 acres of land near Ramayapatnam Port. Once completed, it will have the capacity to process 9 to 12 million metric tonnes per annum (MMTPA) of crude oil. The project is expected to be finished by 2029, giving Andhra Pradesh one of the largest industrial investments in Logistics Vision of the state.

This refinery is not just about oil. It is about transforming Ramayapatnam into a strategic port and positioning Andhra Pradesh as a key player in India’s energy & logistics sector. With this project, the port area will witness better roads, improved rail connectivity and new job opportunities for thousands of local youth.Sub-Industries such as petrochemicals, logistics, and services will also grow around the refinery, boosting the overall economy of coastal Andhra.

Chandrababu Naidu has often spoken about turning Andhra Pradesh into an energy hub backed by a strong logistics network . This project is a concrete step in that direction in reducing the logistics costs for the nation, while improving the efficiency of the supply chain, help in skill development in the local areas and improve the business environment of the state in lieu with the CBN’s logistics vision policy of the state.

Overall, the BPCL refinery at Ramayapatnam is not just another industrial project. It represents a game-changing push for Andhra Pradesh, strengthening both its economy and its role in India’s future energy and logistics needs.
