Popular psephologist and poll strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor has decided not to contest in the upcoming high-stakes elections in Bihar. The Jan Suraaj founder revealed his decision just a while ago and said that he opted out from contesting for a greater good of his political start up which will testing its political waters for the first time.
From the past few days, speculation had been rife in political circles that Prashant Kishor would contest from RJD leader Tejaswi Yadav’s stronghold of Raghopur. However, the second list of candidates announced by Jan Suraaj party sprung a surprise as PK’s name was missing with Chanchal Singh chosen to represent the party from Raghopur segment.
Speaking to the media over this development, Kishor clarified that he has taken the call after consulting all his leaders in the larger interest of the party as it would distract him from concentrating on the necessary organisational work. But, he is very confident that Jan Suraaj will be either securing a decisive mandate of more than 150 seats or might receive an embarrassing defeat with less than 10 seats.
PK further set a benchmark that anything less than 120 or 130 shall be considered a defeat for Jan Suraaj party. He also predicted an absolute rout for JD(U) and Nitish Kumar with whom he closely worked as a poll analyst and party colleague.
The Bihar polls will be held in two phases, on November 6 and November 11, and the counting will take place on November 14. While NDA and JD(U) decided to share 101 seats each and hand over the remaining to their allies, the INDIA bloc is yet to finalize its share among the constituents. PK Jan Suraaj will contest in all 243 seats.
