The government of Tamil Nadu is against the Hindi imposition, and many debates have taken place so far on the same. Now, if the reports are believed to be true, the government is gearing up to table a bill today in the assembly to ban the imposition of Hindi in the state. Already, the legal experts have given their suggestions to the government.
The latest sources say that the new bill against Hindi imposition seeks to prohibit Hindi hoardings, boards, movies, and songs across Tamil Nadu. However, the new bill will also comply with the Constitution.
However, BJP’s Vinoj Selvam called the move “stupid and absurd,” while the DMK leaders go on to defend the bill to the fullest extent possible.
In March this year, the MK Stalin government replaced the national rupee symbol with the Tamil letter (ru) in the 2025–26 state budget logo. It sparked a lot of criticism against the government from the BJP leaders. Even Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also raised the doubts.
More details of the same are awaited.
