Andhra Pradesh just witnessed a landmark moment with Google announcing a massive AI hub in Visakhapatnam, bringing in an investment worth nearly ₹1.8 lakh crore. The project has been widely welcomed by industry experts, economists, and global media. But while the world is applauding, the YSR Congress Party has taken a completely different route.
Instead of appreciating the opportunity this investment brings, YCP leaders are trying to downplay the development and twist the narrative. Jagan himself has not issued a single positive word about the project, leaving his media channels to either ignore or quietly undermine the news.
Former minister Gudivada Amarnath attempted to justify the party’s stance by claiming that similar efforts were made in the past. But even he could not clarify whether the party supports or opposes this major milestone. His comments about job creation being uncertain only added to the confusion, making it seem like YCP is upset simply because the credit went to the current government. Many YCP spokespersons and so-called analysts have gone further, claiming that a data centre is just like a warehouse with no real employment potential. Some party supporters have even started expressing concerns about pollution and global warming due to the establishment of the data centre in Vizag.
At a time when major global newspapers are praising Andhra Pradesh’s leap forward, YCP’s silence and indirect criticism are being seen as a new low in political behavior. Instead of acting as a constructive opposition and welcoming development for the people, the party appears more concerned about losing political mileage.
Analysts believe that when a project of this scale arrives, it naturally boosts employment, local businesses, land value, and overall economic activity, something clearly visible in past cases like Hyderabad’s expansion following major infrastructure projects.
Yet, YCP continues to sulk, proving once again that politics has taken precedence over public welfare.
