YSRCP chief and former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy the other day criticized AP CM Chandrababu Naidu, saying Naidu takes full credit for developing places like Hyderabad’s Hi-Tech City. Jagan argued that the foundations were laid by leaders like Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy and later continued by YSR, which eventually led to its full development.
But here’s the question people are now asking: If Jagan believes growth is a continuation process carried forward by successive governments, did he follow the same principle when he was CM of Andhra Pradesh?
Realistically, Hi-Tech City took complete shape during the nine years of TDP’s rule under Chandrababu. Even Chandrababu himself acknowledged that YSR never stopped projects he had started, which is why developments like the Outer Ring Road and PV Expressway became possible. Later, after Telangana was formed, KCR also contributed to further development.
So, if Jagan is quoting YSR and KCR’s continuity-driven governance as examples, did he apply that logic in Andhra Pradesh when he came to power?
The moment he took charge in 2019, several projects initiated by Chandrababu were dismantled. The Praja Vedika built with public money was demolished immediately. The Amaravati capital plan was sidelined in favor of three capitals. Anna Canteens, which helped poor people, were shut down instead of being improved.
Now, social media users are questioning: If Jagan truly admired YSR and KCR’s model of building on past work, why did he destroy or reverse most of Naidu’s projects instead of continuing them for public benefit?
Was the priority development or simply ensuring Chandrababu never received any credit? That’s the debate happening now—if you claim to follow leaders like YSR and KCR, shouldn’t actions reflect it too?
