Andhra will soon be part of two major bullet train routes with Hyderabad–Chennai and Hyderabad–Bengaluru plans being on, bringing world-class travel speed and comfort to lakhs of passengers in the coming years.
According to the latest proposal, the Hyderabad–Chennai rail line will be around 760 km long, built at an estimated cost of ₹3.04 lakh crore. The train will run at a top speed of 350 km/h, connecting seven districts with nine stations along the route. Out of the total stretch, 504 km will fall within Andhra Pradesh. This project is expected to give a major boost to connectivity between Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu three of South India’s key economic regions that form a major industrial corridor of Hyderabad – Vijayawada – Chennai corridor.
The second rail line, Hyderabad–Bengaluru, will cover about 605 km at a cost of ₹2.38 lakh crores, passing through four districts of Andhra and having six stations in total. Of this, 263 km will be inside Andhra Pradesh. This link will make travel between Hyderabad, Anantapur and Bengaluru much faster, cutting travel time from several hours to just a few hours.
These projects are part of India’s larger vision to connect major cities with high-speed rail lines, modeled on Japan’s Shinkansen technology. The plan aims to improve regional connectivity, attract investment and generate local jobs during construction and operation.
Andhra Pradesh, which lies strategically between the two corridors, means more opportunities, faster development and better connectivity.
If all goes as planned, bullet trains might soon become a common sight on Andhra’s map.
