The horrifying Kurnool bus tragedy, which claimed as many as 20 lives is one of the gutting incidents in recent times. In accordance with the government of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have sprang to action.
The government of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have already communicated a financial compensation of ₹5 lakh to deceased and ₹2 lakh to injured. The compensation is likely to be disbursed soon, considering the gravity of the situation.
On top of that, the government have now instructed the concerned traffic authorities to come down heavily on private travels.
In accordance with this, Telangana transport department held multiple search operations last night as private buses were stopped in city premises and drivers had to undergo breathalyser checks.
On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh government also carried out related activities as several private buses were stopped at the district borders and the documents were verified. Nearly 10 buses were booked for lack of proper documentation yesterday itself.
The governments have started to crack down on travel services for the time being, but the public are calling for more sustained and long term measures to prevent such accidents from happening in the future.
