TG Govt Open to Movie Ticket Hikes, But Conditions Apply!

Telangana Chief Minister and Congress leader Revanth Reddy vowed to make Hyderabad a global destination for film industry. He also made an ambitious claim to efforts and bring Hollywood movies to shoot in Hyderabad if the Telugu film industry extends full cooperation for his initiatives. He placed movie industry akin to that of IT and Pharmacy sectors and promised to take up steps for the welfare of film employees. 

Revanth Reddy made this announcement during the felicitation event organised today evening at the Yousufguda Police Grounds in Hyderabad by the Telugu Film Industry Employees Federation and the 24 Crafts Union as a mark of respect to the Chief Minister for his role in resolving the recent standoff between the producers council and the craftsmen unions that brought shootings to a standstill. 

Talking at the event, Revanth Reddy stated that he was not blind or unaware of the difficulties that are being faced by film workers. He announced several incentives to the employees and assured to extend government schemes to their families. The most appreciable decision announced by Revanth Reddy is that the government will set up an exclusive welfare fund with 10 Crores deposit to help film workers. 

Revanth Reddy made another big announcement when he revealed that the government will allow ticket hikes for movies only if producers agree to give 20% of their profits to the employees of film federation. He also promised to handover house ploys for workers and assured corporate style education for their kids and extension of Rajeev Arogya Sree Health benefits to families. 

Recently, the producers council accepted some of workers’ demands and hiked the daily wages after the government intervened. Now, the spate of incentives announced by Revanth Reddy will come as a big boost for thousands of workers in Tollywood. Moreover, he also put a strict condition that producers should share their profits to claim ticket hikes. It remains to be seen how the council plans for hikes after Revanth’s statements.
