The United States, president, Donald Trump has a hot and cold relationship with India. On one hand, he imposes unreasonable tariffs on India and creates adverse trade conditions and on the other, he speaks highly of PM Modi on most occasions.
Now Trump has discussed the idea of renegotiating the trade deal with India as he publicly stated “I’m doing a trade deal with India, and I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Modi. We have a great relationship.” Trump said.
This comes in the context of the recent theories and derivations about how the United States could soon cut down on the tariffs against India in order to get back on good terms with the latter.
Then came an interesting observation from Trump about Modi, as he said, “Prime Minister Modi is the nicest-looking guy. He’s a killer. He’s tough as hell. He said, ‘No, we will fight,’ during the India – Pakistan dispute.”
It is evident that the United States president is looking to get back on good terms with India by possibly reducing the tariffs sooner than later. The choice of words exhibit a craze tendency to tone down on the otherwise harsh tariff slabs that were imposed recently.
